There is quite a difference between a strategic nuclear bomb and a tactical nuclear bomb. During World War II, America dropped atomic bombs on Japan. This attack can be called strategic nuclear bombing.
On the other hand, Russia wants to achieve strategic success by using tactical nuclear bombs to hit specific targets in Ukraine. A notable feature of tactical nuclear bombs is that they cause very little damage.
Again, the total range of a tactical nuclear bomb is less than that of a strategic nuclear bomb. Tactical nuclear bombs typically have a range of up to 300 miles, depending on the situation.
However, if the tactical nuclear bomb is launched from a warplane, it can cover a range of up to 600 km. On the other hand, if this tactical nuclear bomb is launched from a warship, then its range is similar.
These two types of nuclear bombs are used based on what you intend to drop and how much damage you want to do. Tactical nuclear bombs are much less powerful than strategic bombs.
However, the current tactical atomic bomb is far more destructive than the bomb used in the atomic bombing of Japan.
Russia brought up the issue of tactical nuclear bombs when it came to the use of nuclear bombs in the war between Russia and Ukraine. But time will tell whether Russia will use Ukraine’s tactical nuclear weapons.
