Zendaya's Triumph at the Emmys

Zendaya's role as Rue in HBO's "Euphoria" has earned her critical acclaim, and now it's also won her an Emmy.

The actress took home the award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series at Sunday's 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

Becoming the youngest person ever to win in that category. Zendaya, who is 24, previously won an Emmy in 2018 for her role in the HBO series "The Greatest Showman."

"This is so crazy," Zendaya said upon accepting the award.

"I know that this feels like a dream but it's not. I'm extremely honored and I'm extremely grateful and I want to thank the Academy."

The actress went on to thank her parents, who she said "sacrificed everything" for her, as well as the cast and crew of "Euphoria."

"I know that this TV show doesn't always feel like reality but there are people out there living in a much harsher reality," Zendaya said.

"So to all of you, please keep doing the work, please keep telling your stories, please keep shining a light."

"Euphoria" creator Sam Levinson also won an Emmy for outstanding writing for a drama series Sunday night.

The show was nominated for a total of six Emmys.
