Sarah Michelle Gellar Returning to High School Drama

Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to her roots!

The 41-year-old actress has signed on for a recurring role in the upcoming ABC drama series Schooled, EW has learned.

Gellar will play Lisa Douglas — the headmaster's (Tim Meadows) daughter and Lainey's (AJ Michalka) best friend from high school.

She's now a successful lawyer and mother, but she still has the same competitive drive that made her the captain of the cheerleading squad back in the day.

The series, set in the 1990s, follows the characters of The Goldbergs as they enter their teenage years and attend William Penn Academy, a secondary school in Philadelphia.

Gellar isn't the only original cast member returning for the spin-off:

Wendi McLendon-Covey, Bryan Callen, and Sean Giambrone are all set to reprise their roles as Beverly, Coach Mellor, and Adam, respectively.

Schooled is set to premiere this fall on ABC.
