Ms. Fletcher was a television actress for much of her early career, appearing on series like “The Long, Hot Summer” and “Gunsmoke” in the 1960s.
But it was her performance as Nurse Ratched in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” that made her a star.
