But in recent years, Bryson's addiction to opioids led him down a dark path.

In February, he suffered a heart attack and stroke after overdosing on drugs.

"It was touch and go for a while," Leakes said. "We didn't know if he was going to make it."

Thankfully, Bryson is now on the road to recovery. He's been sober for over six months and is currently enrolled in a treatment program.

"I'm just so grateful that he's alive," Leakes said. "It's been a long journey but we're taking it one day at a time."
