Angela Lansbury, the British-born actress whose decades-long career included stage, movie and television roles, has died at the age of 96.

Lansbury's daughter, Deirdre Bowen, said in a statement that her mother died peacefully at her home in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.

"She was an extraordinary woman who loved life and embraced it with great gusto," Bowen said.

Lansbury's other notable film roles included the 1944 noir classic "Gaslight" and Disney's 1963 animated musical "The Sword in the Stone."

She was also the voice of Mrs. Potts in Disney's 1991 blockbuster "Beauty and the Beast."

Lansbury was nominated for 18 Emmy Awards, winning five times, and was awarded a special Tony in 2013 for her contributions to the theater.

Lansbury is survived by her three children, Anthony, Deirdre and David. Her husband, Peter Lansbury, died in 2003.
