2023 has a lot of surprises waiting on the astronomical calendar. A meteor shower and a partial lunar eclipse will occur in the new year. The details of the significant events that will happen in the sky this year will be highlighted in today’s article.
Meteor showers are happening in many places from December 2022 till today. Compared to the past, this meteor shower seems to be quite strong. Of course, you don’t need binoculars or a telescope to see it. It can be seen in a clear sky.
The first full moon of the year will be held on Friday, January 6. Meteor showers will occur from mid to late April in the new year. Meteors are made up of small pieces of debris left behind by objects such as asteroids or comets.
Some of this debris is returned to the atmosphere. The best time to see such a meteor shower will be from the evening of April 22 to the early morning of April 23. Another meteor shower will occur in May.
But it is expected to start from April 19 and last till May 28. But the best time to watch it will be between midnight and early morning of 6th May 2020. Supermoons will occur on August 1 and August 31 of the new year.
On that day, the moon will be closest to the earth. That is why the moon will appear much bigger and brighter on that day than at other times. Everyone can enjoy two summer supermoons at the beginning and end of August.
The meteor shower will take place on August 12 and 13. You can see the meteor shower again on October 21. A partial lunar eclipse will occur on October 28. If the weather is good on that day, it will be possible to see them from parts of the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
