Theory of Relativity: Flying clocks around the world in opposite directions proved it

In 1905 Einstein’s theory of relativity opened a new horizon to explain the universe. Earlier, scientists could only explain a phenomenon in four ways. In these cases, the issue of spatial distance prevailed. But Einstein realized that different people from different perspectives interpret the same phenomenon.

Theory of Relativity

If you place one clock at the equator and another at the poles, you will see different times in both directions. A clock placed on the equator will run faster. On the other hand, a clock placed at the pole will run slowly.

Einstein realized that clocks could slow down due to gravity. After Einstein gave the theory, scientists could better understand its effect on a phenomenon.

A particle named muon can be mentioned as an example. The way time works for it, it works differently for us. That is, the time has shown different behaviour in both cases.

In 1932 Kennedy also conducted an experiment on time dilation. They studied the speed of light in different directions of space. They proved that the Lawrence factor is the most accurate factor for time dilation.

In the 1940s, more detailed research on the relationship between relativity and time dilation took place. In 1970, there was a large-scale research on time dilation through ‘flying clock’ at both ends of the world.

Earth’s gravitational pull is greater at the poles and less at the equator, thus affecting the passage of time. Time dilation appears to us differently depending on the observer’s speed and location.

A study of atomic clocks took place at the US Naval Observatory. That study of relativity was remarkable. An aeroplane was being flown from one place in the sky to another, and relativity was being compared with time dilation.

The plane was accelerating in the direction the Earth rotates. Time was monitored by aircraft clocks with clocks installed on the ground. Again, the plane flies in the opposite direction to the Earth’s rotation and slows down. It is seen that in the first case the clock placed on the ground is running fast. In the second case the airplane clock is running fast.

Through these studies, it is 100% proven that Einstein’s predictions about motion and gravitational elements were true. The universe is based on relativity. This is true in our daily life.
