The Seven Sisters are a series of chalk sea cliffs on the English Channel coast. They are part of the sea-eroded South Downs Mountains in the county of East Sussex in southeast England. The Seven Sisters Cliffs lie between the mouth of the Cockmere River near Seaford and Chalk Headland near Eastbourne.
The Seven Sisters Country Park consists of cliffs and the surrounding land. Seven Cirstus is bordered by the A259 road. It is also part of the wider South Downs National Park. Seves Cirstus begins east of Kakamer Haven and ends west.
There are seven hills here. The eroded part of the ocean forms the rest. Just east of the last peak is Birling Gap. At the top of the next hill lies the Belle Tout Lighthouse. There is a lighthouse in the sea that marks the next headland.
Many landmarks around the area are named after the cliffs. An example is the Seven Sisters Ship Center. The Seven Sisters’ Cliffs are sometimes used in movies and TV shows. The famous White Cliffs scene is overused.
An important harbour protects the White Cliffs of Dover. Also, it is covered with vegetation and greened. Scenes of the Seven Sisters are presented at the beginning of the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and at the end of the movie Atonement.
In the 2005 movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the Seven Sisters appear in the background of the Quidditch World Cup. Seven Sisters is often used as a shooting spot. Seaford Head was the setting for the 2019 movie Hope Gap starring Bill Nighy and Annette Bening.
Summerland, Jessica Swale’s first full-length film, was released in 2020. It was shot around Seaford and had many scenes from the Seven Sisters.
