Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan sparks intense OTT rights battle after Pathaan success
Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film Jawan is poised to become another blockbuster following the success of Pathaan, and now OTT giants are battling to acquire its streaming rights. According to close sources, Netflix is currently leading the charge in negotiations for the rights to stream the film, which is expected to draw a massive audience due to its universal appeal and multi-lingual nature.
Jawan, directed by Atlee, is set to release on June 2, 2023, and stars big names from across India, including Vijay Sethupathi, Sanjay Durr, Nayanthara, and even a cameo from Deepika Padukone. With Red Chillies Entertainment’s longstanding relationship with Netflix, which already holds almost 20 titles from the production house, it’s no surprise that the OTT giant is eager to add another SRK film to its catalog.
The battle for the rights to stream Jawan is just one example of the fierce competition among OTT platforms to secure the hottest titles in the Indian film industry. As the market for streaming content continues to grow, we can expect more of these battles to play out in the coming years.
