Sony has been doing pretty well lately with its new ZV range of vlogging cameras. Today, they announced the latest addition to the family, the ZV-1 II camera which is the second generation model of the ZV-1. This camera was released three years ago.
Looking at it, the new model doesn’t appear to be a major improvement over its predecessor. The main change is the 24-70mm lens found on the ZV-1 with an aperture of 1.8-2.8. If the lens is to be replaced, a larger 18-50mm lens with an aperture of 1.8-4 can be fitted.
However, it is important to note that the new lens does not have optical stabilization. Many other changes to the ZV-1 II actually came from last year’s ZV-1F. It includes features like USB-C connection, a 3-capsule microphone and a relocated tripod mount.
The entire user interface and its feature set are also borrowed from the ZV-1F. Apart from this update, the new ZV-1 II is virtually identical to the ZV-1. It retains the same sensor, processor, display, stabilization, autofocus, battery, photo and video features. The ZV-1 II will cost $900 and is expected to be available in June.
