The construction of the 12.5 km attractive Expressway from the capital’s Kuril flyover point to Kanchan Bridge is progressing at a fast pace. It is expected to be one of the most scenic and attractive expressways in Southeast Asia. The cost of this project has been estimated at 14 thousand crores.
4,500 workers are working day and night on this project, worth 14,000 crore rupees. This modern expressway will not have any stopover points, signaling signs, or other obstacles. All types of small, medium, and large vehicles will run at their own speed.
Once its construction is completed, a car will cover 12 and a half kilometers in 6 to 7 minutes. At present, the road work is almost completed. All heavy machinery-cranes-loaders-lifters are working on bridge-culvert, underpass, and overpass.
It is going to be one of the signs of modern architecture more than Hatirjheel. One of its objectives is the safe and reliable communication between the east and west of Dhaka. The main road from Kuril to Kanchan Bridge will be eight lanes. Two canals of 100 feet on both sides.
There are service roads on both sides of both canals. The service road will also have multiple lanes. Beyond that, there are gateways to connect from different residential areas. Much of the expressway’s first foot-over bridge is visible. The unique design of the bridge will impress you.
At the end of the construction work, Drishti Nandan lights will be arranged like the Hatirjheel bridge. At present, 13 km of the expressway is fully visible. Two canals of 100 feet each have been constructed on both sides of this road from Kuril to Balu river.
The total length of the canal on both sides is 13 km. A spectacular 10 feet wide walkway is also being constructed. Numerous trees will be planted on both sides of the road. After construction, the canal and walkway will also be used as recreational space.
A six-lane road will be kept on both sides so that low-speed vehicles can pass easily. An eight-lane road has been kept for high-speed vehicles. Till now, the construction work of this project has been completed more than 90 percent.
Five inter-sectors have been placed in this project for the first time in Bangladesh. Its upper part is opened. It will be used to take U-turns on side streets and into the city. Carpeting work is being done on the main expressway. Everyone believes that the image of Purbachal will change once this road is constructed.
