Priyanka Chopra Opens Up About Being in a “Tumultuous Relationship” Prior to Meeting Nick Jonas

Priyanka Chopra recently revealed on the Armchair Expert podcast that she was in a “tumultuous relationship” before meeting her now-husband Nick Jonas. The Quantico star recalled, “I was in a tumultuous relationship at that time. This is 2016.”

Chopra went on to talk about her first meeting with Jonas and how they had common friends who suggested they get together. However, she was hesitant because of her previous relationship. “It was complicated on both our ends,” she said.

Nick had messaged Chopra via Twitter in 2016, but she didn’t want to engage much at that time. “I was also like 35, Nick was 25. I really put a stop to it in a way because I judged the book by the cover,” the 40-year-old actress said.

However, Chopra realized she was ready to settle down and get serious about finding a partner. “I said, ‘I wanna settle down’. I have been there and done the fun dating things. I was like ready to get serious,” she shared.

Before meeting Jonas at the 2017 Met Gala, Chopra had reservations due to her previous experiences with narcissistic exes. “A lot of the pattern in my relationships was me feeling gaslit because I gave that kind of power to the people that I was with, where I was like, ‘You come first’,” she explained.

However, meeting Jonas gave her clarity on what she needed in a relationship. “So, at the time of meeting Nick, I got so much clarity on what I needed,” she added.

Now happily married, Chopra and Jonas tied the knot in December 2018 in India.
