Maisie Williams is an English actress best known for playing Arya Stark in the HBO show “Game of Thrones,” a fantasy show set in the Middle Ages.
Maisie got the part that would be her first acting job as a child. After making it through seven seasons of a show known for killing off fan-favorite characters, Maisie is set to show up in the final season of what is arguably one of the most watched and followed TV shows of all time.
Arya, played by Maisie, is a rough-and-tumble princess who fights with knives and swords. She has a huge fan base all over the world, which makes her one of the most supported characters in the series. Because her character fights a lot, she dances and works hard to stay in shape for her demanding role. Since “Game of Thrones” made her famous, Maisie has had many other roles in movies and TV shows.
Maisie Williams was born in Bristol, United Kingdom, on April 15, 1997. When she was young, her parents split up. She was raised by her single mother, Hillary Frances (who used to go by the name Hillary Pitt), who used to run classes at a university and is now her manager and personal assistant. Her mother also got breast cancer and beat it.
Maisie is the fourth and last child. She has a sister named Beth, who is older than her, and two brothers named James and Ted.
She went to Midsomer Norton’s Clutton Primary School and Norton Hill School. She went to Bath Dance College to study Performing Arts in the future.
Maisie’s first professional role was in “Game of Thrones,” where she played Arya Stark. She started playing this character in 2011. She was picked out of more than 300 British actresses. The critics and fans both liked how she did in the first season.
In 2012, she played Loren Caleigh in the BBC show “The Secret of Crickley Hall” and was also in a “Funny or Die” skit called “The Olympic Ticket Scalper.”
The BBC announced on March 30, 2015, that Maisie would be a guest star in two episodes of their popular science fiction show “Doctor Who,” called “The Girl Who Died” and “The Woman Who Lived.” She played the same role in the first episode, “Face the Raven,” and the third episode, “Hell Bent,” of the season’s three-part finale.
In 2012, she won the Portal Award for “Game of Thrones” for Best Supporting Actress and Young Actor. In 2013, she won the Best British Actress award from BBC Radio 1 Teen. In 2014, she won the EWwy Award for “Game of Thrones” in the category “Best Supporting Actress, Drama.”
