Football fans may not have forgotten the punishment of Juventus, the popular football club in the Italian league. The club was deducted 15 league points for breaking the rules. This time Manchester City is being investigated with multiple complaints. At any moment City fans could be in for some big bad news.
Allegations against Manchester City are highlighted:
- The club has been uncooperative during the investigation
- The laws on profit and stability have been broken multiple times
- UEFA’s general rules have been breached
- Footballers who are staying at Manchester City have been found to have a salary irregularity
- Financial reporting lacks transparency
- There is a discrepancy in the salary of the manager of the club
Fans may fear that Manchester City will face major penalties if such serious allegations are proven. Like Juventus, they will probably be deducted a lot of points.
If this happens, the club will go down in the points table of the English Premier League. In that case, it will be very difficult to participate in next season’s Champions League.
Relegation from the league may result in relegation to the next division. However, such a large penalty seems unlikely. Again compensation may be sought from the club.
The popular club may be given conditional punishment. On the other hand player registration may be cancelled. A hefty fine can also be imposed. We will have to wait a few more days to find out what happens in the end.
