DJI has released a new stylistic drone named Avata, which was built to integrate with the new DJI Goggles 2 video headset.
It’s a first-person-view (FPV) cinematic model, although it has a more standard “cinewhoop” shape thanks to the addition of prop protectors to its quad propellers. The Avata was meant to have the speed and agility, but with the stabilization technology required to produce smooth and vibrant shots.
It has a battery life of up to 18 minutes, and it can accelerate like a sprinter, and zoom in and out of tight spaces while recording video. The Avata features a camera with a stabilizer, super wide-angle lens, f/2.8 aperture, and 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor with 48 million effective pixels.
That camera can shoot 4K videos at 60 frames per second and 2.7K videos at 50, 60, 100, or 120 frames per second. Because it includes 20GB of internal capacity, users may shoot a lot of film without worrying about running out of space.
It can be controlled with the Remote Controller and Goggles. DJI Goggles 2 is the brand’s next-gen video headset with a micro-OLED screen and an adjustable diopter so glasses-wearers won’t need them.
It may send live drone footage to the user’s phone or computer for first-person viewing. The DJI Motion Controller enables sophisticated flight movements with one hand.
The DJI Avata is now available online and in stores. The DJI Goggles 2 and a DJI Motion Controller are sold separately for €1,429, £1,229, or $1,388 while the drone alone costs €579, £499, or $629.
