Splendid Fairywren belongs to the Maluridae family. Its scientific name is Malurus splendens. In Australia, the locals call it the Blue Wren bird. Blue wrens range from the mid-west region of New South Wales and southwestern Queensland to the coast of Western Australia.
Dry places are the favourable habitat for this species of bird. Blue wrens have long tails and are mostly covered in bright blue and black. The most notable feature of this species of bird is that male and female birds live in groups and breed regularly through sex.
Summer environments and places with green vegetation are ideal for Blue Wren. This species of bird survives by eating insects and seeds. Blue Wren birds grow up to 14 cm long.
The blue plumage of the male bird is often called the ‘wedding couch’ by the locals. Blue wrens often see cuckoos as a threat. You will find the habitat of this species of bird dry and full of bushes.
However, when people started living in their habitat, the Blue Wren migrated elsewhere. They have disappeared from many parts of Australia.
