A leopard managed to escape from the Dallas Zoo in the United States last Friday. After this incident, some panic spread among the locals. After that, the local police unit launched an operation to recover the leopard.
After several hours of continuous efforts, the leopard was rescued. Officials at the Dallas Zoo said the leopard would be 4 years old. During an exhibition, it escaped by climbing a barbed wire fence.
Dallas Zoo President Greg Hudson said the leopard’s name is Nova. The zoo staff suddenly noticed that the animal was not in its cage during the morning exhibit. Taya then realizes that it has escaped.
But the authorities are reluctant to accept it as a big mistake. Dallas Police Public Information Officer Warren Mitchell Hudson said they are trying to understand the current situation. It is our belief that someone did this intentionally, and so we have opened a criminal investigation.
The fence the leopard escaped from appears to have been deliberately cut. The search continued for hours until the animal was safely secured near its original habitat.
“Preliminary indications are that it appears to be uninjured. It is currently being evaluated by our veterinary staff,” the zoo said in a statement.
According to Mitchell, authorities have deployed drones to assist in the search for the leopard. Detection is possible by calibrating specific hit signatures.
Hudson explained that, “These are animals that can hide easily. They live in trees and thick forests. So it’s hard to find them.”
