Most of us don’t know how to develop a good habit. We often implement several bad habits in our daily life. In developing good habits you need to know about Cue, Craving, Response and Reward.
Suppose you want to sit on the sofa. Then you sat down on the sofa. It acts as a cue. Then you may want to watch television or you may want to Facebook with your mobile in hand. You may desire to use cigarettes. It is called Craving. In the next step you watch television or browse on your mobile or use a cigarette. This step is called response.
By watching television or by, Facebooking on your mobile or by using cigarettes, your feeling of well-being will work. It is called Reward. This is how the habit loop works in our lives.
In order to develop a good habit, you need to make it interesting to you. For example, drinking water in the morning is beneficial for health. You will feel good if you buy a nice looking bottle for drinking water.
In building your habit, make sure the task is easy to do. The brain does not like to make a task difficult. So don’t make any task challenging when building new habits.
Place objects related to the good habit you want to practice near your eyes and hands. If you want to make a habit of eating fruit regularly, arrange the fruit near your eyes and hands.
If you want to avoid a habit, try to keep things related to it away from you, such as mobile. Reward yourself when you are able to develop good habits. By doing this, you will be satisfied, and your confidence will increase. These techniques are very effective in building good habits.
