Samsung recently filed to trademark a new display technology called ‘Lifelike Pixels’, which can offer better colour reproduction and viewing angles than current OLED displays.
Samsung is currently working on lifelike pixels for OLED screens. Samsung has applied for trademark registration for a new display technology called Lifelike Pixel. The application was filed by Samsung’s display division and the technology is likely to be used in upcoming OLED screens and tablets.
However, the technology is likely to be used in other devices later on. Examples include AR/VR displays, laptops and smart watches.
Samsung is working on a new type of display called Flex Hybrid which can be folded and slid at the same time. The technology is designed for future laptops that can be folded at will. Samsung is working on three types of display panels. They are:
- Flex In
- Out Flex Slideable Duet
- Flex Slideable Solo
It’s not clear exactly how the Lifelike Pixel technology works, but OLED displays have improved colour reproduction. This is considered a major upgrade over Samsung’s excellent OLED technology. It will be possible to enjoy features like high contrast ratio, viewing angles and fast response times.
Samsung’s application for the Lifelike Pixel trademark indicates that the company is working on a new display technology that will be used in future products. We can expect this technology to be used in upcoming Samsung devices and may also be offered to other smartphone manufacturers in the future.
