Various designs of football have been used, from the first World Cup to the current World Cup. There were also variations in the name and style of making these footballs.
Tango
Tango is one of the most popular balls used in the FIFA World Cup. But the interesting thing is, after making this ball Adidas was very worried about its new design. During the tournament, the ball was sold in huge quantities in various stores and quickly gained popularity across the world.
Tango España
The 1982 World Cup was held in Spain. That year, without doing any new research on the ball, Adidas made a slight change in Tango and released it under the name ‘Tango España’.
Azteca
The ball used in the World Cup held in Mexico again in 1986 was called ‘The Azteca’. Even ball patterns undergo noticeable changes. Its triangular patterns are designed in imitation of the historical architecture of the Aztecs.
Itasca Unico
Adidas continues the theme of matching the traditional symbols of the hosts with the ball for this World Cup. The 1990 Italy World Cup ball was named the Etrasco Unico to honor the Etrascan civilization of ancient Italy.
Questra
The 1994 tournament was the first World Cup on US soil. Looking at the black side of this World Cup football, you will feel like you are looking at the starry sky. Polyester foam is used in the outer covering of the ball, making it slightly softer and easier to control.
Tricolour
Since 1970, the Football World Cup has been broadcast on color television. But till 1998, the color of the ball remained black and white. FIFA and Adidas broke that tradition from the 1998 World Cup.
Favornova
In 2002, the World Cup was held in Korea-Japan with a completely new ball. Before that, Adidas started researching the ball. Between the large golden triangles was another smaller triangle mixed with red and green.

After 1974, the World Cup football tournament was again held in Germany. And the ball used in that World Cup was called Teamgeist. The word teamgeist means team spirit. Much in deference to host Germany’s tradition of valuing team prowess over individual prowess.
Jabulani
The 2010 World Cup saw a dramatic change in football. In an effort to make the ball more attractive, Adidas reduced the number of panels on the ball from 14 to 8. This ball became more smoothly rounded than the other balls.
Telstar
Last November, FIFA announced the new ball for the 2018 World Cup. The ball is named Telstar after remembering the 1970 World Cup. The design of the ball is similar to that of the seventies.
Al Rihla
The name of the official ball of the Qatar World Cup is ‘Al Rihla’. Changing the Arabic word to English is ‘The Journey. Adidas has prepared the official match ball of the World Cup for the 14th time.
